Owner and head designer Randy Rand launched Concrete Artisans in 2007 after four years as an architectural and engineering designer in Bangor, Maine.

His concrete design career began when he started looking for a "new and different" countertop option for his own kitchen. He came across California-based Cheng Design, the first company to create beautiful – and functional – concrete home products.

Intrigued, Randy was soon on his way to San Francisco to learn more – and to complete the in-depth course that certified him to use the Cheng method to design and produce everything from customized countertops to bath surrounds.
