Concrete

SUSTAINABLE, VERSATILE + HARDWEARING

Concrete is a unique material that is both practical to use and aesthetically pleasing. Due to its evolving nature, it will gradually age and continue to reflect its beauty in subtle ways throughout the years.

Due to the fact that concrete is fluid, it can be shaped into almost any shape that will harden into a solid mass, benefiting clients wanting custom shapes and sizes.

Our products are developed using Glass Fibre Reinforced Concrete ( GFRC ), allowing us to confidently fabricate lightweight, complex designs.

GFRC

When alkaline-resistant glass and fibre are added to the mixture, the product needs less steel. This means that we can pour our concrete thinner, which makes it lighter and easier to move.
The mix of fibres also gives the product more flexural strength, which makes it less likely to crack.

Characteristics

DURABLE,SUSTAINABLE + CHIC

AIR POCKETS AND PIN HOLES

Because of how concrete is cast, air can sometimes get trapped inside the concrete, causing casting holes to form on the surface. It's normal for a product to have air pockets all over it and also to have smooth spots with a single air pocket here and there.

FLOW LINES

Concrete is in a liquid state when it is poured which creates " Flow Lines ".

These textural flow lines are a distinguishing characteristic of our handcrafted concrete.

Sealers

Concrete is a porous material that may get discoloured if not properly treated. Since our goal is to develop a durable solution for our customers, we have undertaken extensive testing on various sealants. We can now utilise and suggest sealants for your product with confidence.

PENETRATING SEALERS

  • Penetrating sealers go deep into the concrete to close up the pores.

  • They are somewhat resistant to stains, but they are more resistant to scratches and wear.

  • These sealers are good for people who want to keep the natural look and feel of concrete and don't mind if it gets stained or etched over time.

TOPICAL SEALERS

  • Surface sealants are a protective covering that goes on top of concrete.

  • Depending on how much they cost, topical sealers like acrylics, epoxies, and polyurethanes offer different levels of stain protection, but they can be scratched or chipped if they aren't taken care of properly.

Caring for concrete

A LITTLE LOVE, GOES A LONG WAY

Concrete is a durable, long-lasting and low-maintenance material, which makes it easy to take care of around the house. Even though concrete is strong and gets better with age, there are some things to keep in mind to help it age well. Here are some tips for cleaning and maintaining your concrete surface:

DISH SOAP
Standard dish soap in warm water may be used to clean concrete countertops.
Use a sponge or non-abrasive wipe to get a clean, residue-free surface without damaging your benchtops.

SURFACE WIPES
There are pre-moistened and gentle enough for concrete surfaces. Certain wipes are labelled "pH neutral" or "kitchen counter wipes."

TAKE CARE WITH THE OBJECTS YOU SET ON THE SURFACE
To prevent the surface from getting scratched, it's best to put felt pads or separators down such as table runners, coasters etc.
